There are some great books out there about veganism and plant based diets. There are so many books in fact that it can be a little overwhelming. I wanted to share just a few books I am currently reading that are worth your time.
No Meat Athlete by Matt Frazier
As the title suggests, this book is great for athletes on a plant based diet. Matt Frazier, founder of NoMeatAthlete.com, begins the book by introducing what a plant based diet is and the nutritional benefits of this diet. He also includes some great recipes along with tips for basic cooking skills. As a bonus, Frazier also gives some running tips since he is an ultra marathoner. This book helps simplify life for a vegan athlete and contains some incredibly valuable information! You can find the book here.
The China Study by T. Colin Campbell, PhD and Thomas M. Campbell II, MD
The China Study is a book I continue to come back to and re-read. This study was the most comprehensive study of nutrition ever conducted. This study focuses on the relationship between the consumption of animal products and the risk of developing chronic diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, and various forms of cancer. This is one of the first books I stumbled upon when doing research into plant based diets and is one of the main reasons I became vegan. You can find the book here.
The TB12 Method by Tom Brady
I was extremely excited to get my hands on this book. Tom Brady is one of best quarterbacks of all time and is still playing at a high level at the age of 40. That is almost unheard of in the NFL. I heard he followed some type of crazy diet but I wanted to know exactly what that diet consisted of. In this new book, Brady gives some insight into his diet.
Although this is not a traditional plant based diet book and Brady is not vegan, he eats and advocates for a mostly plant based diet. Brady eats whole foods and mostly plant based foods in order to keep his body in the best shape possible. He provides some recipes in the book and a majority of the dishes are vegan. Brady also provides some great information about pliability and how to workout to avoid injury, it is definitely worth the read. You can find the book here.
